Non-Exempt Compensation: Stipend of $4,000 total for the duration
of the program (equivalent to approximately $19.05/hour. This does

JOB DESCRIPTION The BMC Communication’s Intern will support UNCF’s
Branding, Marketing, and Communications team in executing strategic
communications and digital engagement efforts, with a focus on
content creation, social media storytelling, and brand?aligned
messaging. This internship offers hands?on experience in nonprofit
marketing, digital communications, and public affairs, and provides
opportunities to contribute to high?visibility campaigns and
initiatives that amplify UNCF’s mission. At the conclusion of the
internship, the intern will complete a final project that showcases
their contributions and learning. Deliverables may include: 3–5
published or contributed pieces (e.g., blog posts, social media
content, press releases), Mid-term and final reflection
presentations, One capstone project (e.g., campaign concept, social
media toolkit, or story series). By the end of the internship, the
intern will: gain practical experience in nonprofit communications
and branding, strengthen their ability to communicate across
platforms and audiences, build a professional portfolio of creative
and strategic work, and deepen their understanding of UNCF’s
mission and impact. ABOUT UNCF The United Negro College Fund (UNCF)

low-income and first-generation students. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
AND DUTIES: Content Development Draft and edit content for social
media, newsletters, blog posts, and the UNCF website Assist in
writing scripts, talking points, and messaging briefs Support the
creation of branded materials such as flyers, infographics, and
campaign graphics Media and Digital Engagement Monitor media
mentions and track coverage using tools like Meltwater Help build
media lists and draft press materials (e.g., press releases,
advisories) Provide support for media outreach and promotional
efforts Campaign and Event Support Assist with digital campaigns
tied to events like Gala Noir, Walk for Education, and Giving
Tuesday Schedule posts, draft captions, and help analyze engagement
metrics Strategy and Research Conduct research on media trends,
partner organizations, and stakeholder engagement Help develop
communications toolkits and templates for internal use
Administration and Team Collaboration Attend weekly team check-ins
and assist with project tracking Maintain organized files of
communications materials and campaign assets Social Media & Digital
Storytelling Support the execution of UNCF’s social media strategy
by drafting, scheduling, and publishing content across platforms
including Instagram, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Facebook, and TikTok ,
as appropriate. Assist with story ideation and digital storytelling
, highlighting UNCF scholars, member institutions, programs,
events, and impact. Help manage the social media content calendar
and support timely posting for campaigns, events, and key
milestones. Create and adapt graphics and simple visual assets
using Canva (and Adobe tools when available) to support social
content. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES No supervisory
responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university (junior,
senior, or graduate student preferred) Minimum cumulative GPA of
2.5 Demonstrated interest in communications, education equity, or
nonprofit service Strong written and verbal communication skills
Adaptability, initiative, and the ability to work independently and
collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Strong writing skills
with the ability to adapt tone and messaging across audiences,
including students, donors, partners, and the general public.
Familiarity with major social media platforms and awareness of
current content trends and best practices. Basic comfort using
creative tools (Canva preferred; Adobe Creative Suite is a plus).
Understanding of brand stewardship and the importance of
thoughtful, accurate, and mission?aligned messaging in
public?facing communications. Availability to work onsite during
our core hours Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm Availability for
