Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Support cardiac surgery recovery as an experienced nurse skilled in cardiac telemetry and stepdown care. This 13-week contract opportunity requires expertise in managing chest tubes and dysrhythmias within a cardiovascular stepdown unit. The role is based in Alexandria, VA, with a schedule of three 12-hour night shifts per week, including every other weekend. Qualifications and Desired Experience: Active Virginia or Compact Registered Nurse license at time of application Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification Minimum of 2 years of RN experience Proven experience with cardiac telemetry and stepdown nursing, including management of chest tubes and dysrhythmias Familiarity with cardiovascular surgery patients and telemetry unit operations Completion of EPIC clinical documentation training (specific class depends on prior EPIC experience; either accelerated or standard) Flu vaccine compliance during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31), with allowance for approved medical or religious exemptions following CMS guidelines Responsibilities: Provide high-quality nursing care to post-cardiac surgery patients transitioning from ICU Monitor cardiac rhythms and manage chest tubes effectively Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement patient care plans Document patient information accurately using EPIC electronic health records Adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements Location:Situated in Alexandria, VA, this opportunity places you within a vibrant community known for its rich history, diverse dining, and proximity to the nations capital.
