National Government Sales Director

Job Description:
The Opportunity:The Region Sales Director will have the
opportunity to lead a team and sell Avantor's large portfolio of
products and services to a diverse set of current and prospective
Government Accounts. The Region Sales Director will provide ongoing
leadership, coaching, development, support, and direction to the
Region's 8 to 10 Sales Representatives; ensure effective territory
management and achievement of assigned sales, profit, and expense
goals.The Region Sales Director will manage a $100M or more in both
state, local and federal government business. You will serve as
single point of communication liaison between the Commercial
Operations Team and Legal Team on government matters. Responsible
for creating and implementing successful strategies to further
penetrate and segment the market, consisting of state, local and
federal government clients.What we're looking for
- Education: College degree or equivalent experience
required
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years-experience establishing high level customer
relationships and account development and implementation
- Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Office, specifically Teams with
preference for experience in Salesforce, C4C or Qlikview
- Preferred Qualifications:
- 5-10 years successful sales experience in the government
market
- Distribution experience and a scientific background and/or
having worked in a laboratory or research environment
- Experience in organization building and/or change management
related to salesHow you will thrive and create an impact

the region.
- Continually evaluate associate progress and performance.
- Provide formal and informal sales training to all sales
associates in assigned area.
- Develop programs and selling strategies to motivate sales force
and stimulate sales.
- Develop and maintain sound customer and supplier
relations.
- Directly handle contract negotiations for key accounts.
- Prepare sales and gross margin forecasts for region territories
and analyze and monitor sales data for the region
- Monitor and manage key product sales.
- Successfully interface with internal customers and service
providers such as NCO, Furniture division, VWR Specialists and
Business Process Consultants.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
