Pay Schedule II, Grade H22, Regular Schedule: 40 hours per week
Vacancies exist in the Department of Public Works and
Transportation, Bureau of Highways and Equipment Maintenance.

Examples of Duties
Job Purpose
Under general supervision, performs skilled diagnostic repair and
maintenance work on diesel and gasoline powered trucks weighing one
ton or more, construction equipment, and the hydraulic and
electrical systems on vehicles and equipment.
Essential Job Duties
Qualifications
Five years' experience in automotive repair and maintenance;
Two years of which were in heavy truck and heavy construction
equipment engines and special components, including diesel, track,
and hydraulic equipment.
Related training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis up to
a maximum of two years for the required experience.
Licenses and Certificates
Some positions may require possession of a valid driver's license
equivalent to a commercial, class B or class A Maryland driver's
license and a current Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance
with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. License may require
endorsements and/or the absence of certain restrictions.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification by the National Institute of Automotive Service
Excellence in Heavy - Duty Trucks T1 (Gasoline engines) - T2
(Diesel engines) - T3 (Drive Train) - T4 (Brakes) - T5 (Suspension
and Steering) - T6 (Electrical Systems) T7 (HVAC) is preferred.
Proof of Licenses, Certifications and Education

and education beyond high school to meet the required and preferred
qualifications of the position. Diplomas or transcripts must show
the applicant's major field of study. Copies and unofficial
transcripts are acceptable.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE
Applicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of their
training and experience, as stated on their application, which
includes answers to the supplemental questions. Applicants must
state the dates and duties of past and present experience clearly

Conditions of Employment
Employees hired after July 1, 2022 are required to participate in
the Baltimore County Employees' Retirement System, with very
limited exceptions.
Employees in this classification may be designated as

Physical and Environmental Conditions
The work of this classification entails the performance of heavy
physical labor including bending, stooping, lifting and carrying
heavy objects, and the operation of vehicles, machinery, tools, and
equipment.

Salary
Annual Salary review - Step increases may be granted on anniversary
date based on satisfactory job performance
General Increases - Cost of living increases and adjustments may be

a full-time merit or classified employee may receive a longevity
increase, equivalent to one step, upon completion of a certain
number of years of classified service with the County.
